Has anyone notice of any offspring of the 629 Holland 00 (801.5 Stelts x 935 Lloyd)? So wonderful cross wasn't tested?

I dont think it has been tried. There are so many 801 x 935 crosses...one of them should be a 846 calai type seed that wasnt discovered yet. Holland has made atleast 2 801 x 935 crosses....629 and 711. The 963 stucker 02 is that cross. There is a wallace seed (644 Wallace 00??)with that cross as well. The 764 mombert 00 is 935 x 567 mombert (interesting 865 mettler like cross, but not the same). If there is a newbie out there who cant get those proven seeds, i think these 801 x 935 seeds would be the place to start...prove them! see what that cross can really do!

Casey, Are you talking about the 629? It is really hard for Newbies to get seeds. So it might have to be an old pro that might have to do the first test and let us all know what happens.

Sometimes the abundance of good seeds works against us. Many great crosses never get tried as people scramble to get the "proven seeds" to grow the next big one. I plan on growing the 705 Mettler 00 935 X 801.5 and the 963 Stucker this year as well as the 764 Mombert 00 again. Last year it produced a 316 for me on a plant grown as a flag. I got too excited about getting early pollinations and set the fruit too close in. When disease hit in August it shut the fruit down. Until that point is was the fastest growing pumpkin I have ever had. The 764 gave a decent shape, medium color and very long stems. It deserves another try with a full sized plant and a more patient grower. I'll try to provide that this year.

Rick, I read from Kevin Smith that he planted two 705 Mettler and both of them had serious developping problems when seedlings on the ground and didn't go. Take care
