Just a last minute reminder that tonight at 6pm CST we are holding an open chat session in the "Off Topic Talk" chat room. You are invited to attend and express your opinions and ideas on how best these contests should be operated. I hope to make these contests enjoyable for everyone who would like to compete and Im asking for everyones help to help me develope a program that will do just that. Currently there are tentative rules in place that were developed mostly my Steve Kichler and Myself. These rules are open for debate and possible change. I would greatly appreciate everyones opinions on what we have developed and what we should consider changing and why. The current rules and contests information are posted here at BP.com and can be located under the odds and ends link. Thanks in advance for your time and I look forward to seeing many of you at the chat tonight. If you would like to voice your opinion but can not attend please send me an e-mail and I will present your ideas / opinions at the meeting for you. Thanks to everyone who showed up! There was a nice turnout with a few changes that should make more growers happy. I will try to update the files and send them to Ken for re-posting in a couple days. A quick snapshot of what is slated to change: Entry form deadline is extended until May 1st. Prizes will only be awarded one per family. Estimated weights will not be allowed ( for prizes) and an official weight from a certified scale is required. The bonus points system will be removed and it is requird that a post (not a pic) in your diary is required every 3rd week. The entry fee has been increased from 10 to 25 seeds or 25% of your viable seeds if seed count is low. The 840 can be any color for the pumpkin contest and the squash contest will require growers to determine ahead of time what seeds the are growing for the squash contest. This will eliminate someone from stumbling on an un expected green one and taking the prizes with it. Thanks again everyone. Mike and Steve

Yo Mike, Just a thought....what if you grow a 840 and its green...can it be entered in both contests if you have named it for the 840 and the squash comps?

Do you get anything for growing the smallest pumpkin? Honorable mention for the smallest squash grown from giant seeds? I don't think I can compete from this heat. Do we get a handicap? What is the biggest 840 ever grown. What year is the 840 from? So if you try for squash you can use any squash seed as long as you let it be known ahead of time? I could probably try for the smallest squash grown out of a Giant seed also.
