Just wondering how small a plant you can have ( in square feet ). And still produce a large pumpkin, say 700lbs or bigger. Anyone ever experiment along these lines or have an info?
Thanks

Mark 400-600 sq foot plants have produced many 1000 lbers thats why I think that a plant any bigger than 750 sq feet is a waste of resources. And time. mark

Is 750 sq feet for a whole plant or a christmas tree style plant.

greenj TC our Wilkes Barre heavy hitter assures me I can grow two Christmas Trees on my 25' X 55' patch. Stager them a little and grow one each direction from the center of the patch or start at each end and grow towards the center.
They could jump the patch boundries a little or be headed off as they hit the edge of the patch.

just make sure, as i am going to FOR SURE this year, you bury the vines as much as possible, as with a smaller plant, well, there goes the vines to root with! i promise to not be lazy this year! 'pal

It is surely far more important to have the soil improved with humis, compost and manures to a PH of about 7. Not to mention a good plan to control the critters that would eat or destroy your masterpiece.
York, Pa. is in the mushroom growing area of Pa. There are horses all over the area. The basic soil is of the best in the state. Lots of opportunity there!!! There is a gold mine where the city dumps its leaves.

I thought York was home to Harley-Davidson and York Barbells. Who would have thought that they'd be known for all kinds of shit?

Sorry guys, my finger slipped on the keyboard, What I meant to say was, "Who would have known York would be known for all kinds of shirts!" (T, Sweat, Cut-off, Dress, etc.) Hope this clears all this shirt up!
