I'd like anyone who wants to discuss genetics to join me in the seed swappers chat tonight. Normally chat is good to B.S. in... but tonight I'd think it would be cool to have anyone join in to discuss theories on genetics... serious chatting only! LOL

I am to new to grasp the full intent of time and genetic issues you shared and gave opinion on. I do want to thank you for the effort you made.

Maybe I am wrong but I believe the introduction of basic terminology for new growers would not be wasted time. For instance..

The term selfed is used to describe________________________. It is felt that the next generation seed from a selfed pumpkin will_______________________.

Now look at the two sentences for words that may not be understood. Could a bee create a selfed condition? Under what conditions?

Your leadership last night seemed to be very much appreciated by those in attendance. Little by little each new generation inches into the communication circles of you and the others....but they have to learn the basics so that they may be able to do that.

Might there even be a few out here that do not understand the numbers on the seed packet they receive.

If a female flower is pollinated by a male flower on the same plant, that is self polination. A bee could self pollinate for you, but you would have no garrantee that it was only pollinated by one source of pollen, you would be more accurate to call it "open" pollination in that case.
