i was just wondering::: has anyone has ever grown 2 plants side by side, like a foot apart, allowing only the side-vines
from the right plant to grow out on the right, and the ones on the left plant to grow out on the left, thereby utilizing the same amount of space to grow 2 plants, like if you REALLY want to grow 2, but don't really have room??
(along the lines of flag, centipede, snake and other
pet names)....and if so, how were the results?? thanks!

That would just be a method of the flag pattern I believe. Jim Sherwood grew 4 like that this year. Jim can tell you how they did.

yeah, so it's a side-by-side flag--i knew there had to be a good term for it!
i'm mainly asking for the sake of everyone, so if anyone else has grown this way, put a brief response here--
there was another grower with very little space, and your
answer(s)will help him and whoever reads it!
and thank you Ben!-for the auction proceedings as well! 'pal

I grew in this pattern last year in both my patches, mainly because I didn't know any better then. I had 4 plants, 2 in each plot about 3 or 4 feet apart. I found it a little hard to access, 1 full plant would have allowed me to take off every other secondary and given more room and air circulation..Powdery Mildew was an issue..
