I was wondering if there are any plans to schedule a featured grower or two this winter? It was a very exciting thing last winter and I think some of the newcomers here would benefit from it as I did last year.

How about several "Breeding Genetics Growers" featured at once. I would love to share what I've came up with since 1990 and all through the cloning years. Joe Atlis, Mark Pistano, Glenn Andrews, Nic Welty, Bill Bobier,Len Stellpflug, Joe Pukos,Brett Hester...Hell, thats just a few of the guys I can think of that I can name off the top of my head that are all very educated on the "art" of breeding! I'm sure if we got everyone who is really into the breeding part of growing together, we could all give out plenty of information and theories which could be of enormous help to those growers who have not had the pleasure of living in the AGGC for several years...LOL I have had some good chats at times with people who have been researching genetics like I have, and a few of the newer growers learned quite a bit in a short time!

Madman,
Last year, it was hard for many to get a question in with just 1 featured grower. I like all the names you mentioned, but I think 1 celeb at a time would help growers better and give more people a chance to ask their question. Last year, I personally invited every "heavy hitter" I had an e-mail addy for to host a celeb chat on this site. Many responded, and several actually did the chats. I'm sure I speak for all when I say that we were all thankful for those that did participate. Anyone can do what I did, so if you know a grower you'd like to have host, and have their e-mail, drop them a line and invite them to join. Last year I supplied John and Ken with a list of all those I invited, and who accepted. I'm sure some of you out there can be more persuasive than me.

There are many experienced growers out there and is hard to choose among them to invite one. What we need to select our featured grower is a criteria: why this one and not that other? Well, the first criteria should be that he use the pc and internet, then that he likes to spend his time here. I believe no discussion yet. But still a lot of people avalaible. World record maybe? Then, the last one, of course, and a man we would like to learn from is for sure Charlie Houghton (I don't know if he use Internet) World record seed? Then, Bill Bobier, grower of the 845 and 723, another guy will worth enough to ask questions to (he has e-mail) Just my thoughts...........Don

I knew there are plenty of growers I didn't list...I knew I'd get some help...LOL! Kilr has a point, that it might be diificult for everyone that was featured to be able to contribute or for questions to all be answered. Perhaps if John has rules set up to avoid those problems first, then it still could be an idea. Kilr...you were the one in there, so what or how could it have been done correctly? Don Quijote has another good point...there are several people very knowledgeable, and with breeding, it is all theories. I've listened to everyones, and unless you hear several, it's hard to make your own theory. In pumpkin growing, the more information you can find and learn, the better off you will be!

I feel like I am missing out compared to last winter's featured grower chats.
I'd like to hear from Paul Handy, Bill Bobier and Fred Calai.
Many more too.... Just getting the ball rolling is a start in the right direction.
