Some of my Dad's seeds out of his 177# have quite a few black spots on them....I was wondering if anyone could tell me if I can soak them in peroxide or bleach and then redry them or are they toast....Thanks for the help..

If you dry them well, the black spots will remain but be inactive and not a problem. Once you start to germ them they may reactivate...not what you want....soak the seed for germination and then roll the seed in a fungiside dust prior to placing in a peatpot etc....dont water the fungiside away from the seed if you have to water the peatpot....I would go the extra effort and water with water mixed with fungiside if it was an important seed to me...at least til the plant was in the ground......my 2 cents..........G

I germinated seeds with black mould spots, by soaking in hydrogen peroxide 3% solution straight out of the bottle. Sizzled off all the spots.......germinated in 3-4 days. Ben

TWO of my favorite grower-info pals! i would find out what the chemical reaction would be, if any, using these TWO methods together, but i think each one on its own would work great, as these TWO know!
