Rose, Andy W is working on a squash competition for 2003. Maybe the two of you could come together and make one contest? I think Squash interest is lacking compared to pumpkins, so I thought "one" squash contest would be best. Just a thought, Mike

Killer rose If I raised my orange pumpkin to a booming hundred feet and dropped it onto my rattled old truck would it thereafter be a squash and acceptable in your contest?
A pumpkin squash! Why not? :)

well, i wasn't planning on running things, but i figured i'd toss out a few rules for one to see what people thought. the rules would have to be the same as the pumpkin competition with 2 exceptions:
1. any squash seed can be used
2. the squash has to be a squash. and by that i mean solid green.
#2 is where i expect to get some responses. now, here's my reasoning- first, i believe true squash are the only squash. that's a point to argue about another time, but for the sake of a squash contest, it makes judging things a lot easier. it also means that if you're getting into the squash competition, you are comitting yourself way ahead of time to growing a green one, and should rule out color manipulation. there are several seeds out there that will go 100% green 100% of the time.
