What the heck is going on? We've had snow down here already and it's still in the 30's. I know some of you have winter weather from September to June but this time last year I was outside tilling leaves into my patch.

I do not believe in Global Warming. In the past we have had Ice Ages and then all the ice melted. Who is to say that it isnt one of those times when it is warmer? We havn't been around long enough to say anything for sure. The hole in the o-zone layer has actually been getting smaller.

Hey Ben, Some folks have to come up with anything so the goverment will keep funding their project.
Kinda like the Cancer causing agent of the week, one week it's my kids pj's , the next week pj's are fine but green M&M's are no-no's.
Did anyone see the Harvard study released yesterday? In their school funded study they found that people who watch sports are more likely to binge drink than non-sports fans. In the soon to be released Huffer study it's been discovered that the Goverment will find more ways to waste your money than their are interns lining up at Bill Clinton's office in Harlem..........

Subject: Oil shortage
There are a lot of folks who can't understand how we came to have an oil shortage here in the U.S.A. Well, there's a very simple answer. Nobody bothered to check the oil. We just didn't know we were getting low.
The reason for this is purely geographical.
All the oil is in Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, Wyoming, etc.
All the dipsticks are in Washington, D.C.

Global Warming is just that GLOBAL, look at the huge recessions in the polarar ice caps over the past 20 years! I figure you Wyoming folks will have beach front property in about 100 years....

I know the earth is heating up, I am not doubting that, but i dont think that we(the humans) had very much to do with it. We thought we were wearing away the ozone layer but latest photo graphs show that it is actually getting smaller. Way back in acient time we had ice caps and they melted before any human where here. I think the earth just goes through stages. I am under the impression though that when people say global warming, they are talking about the effect that we had to do with it and i dont believe we had much of anything to do with it. So my question to you would be how do you think global warming is caused? I was thinking that the earth doesn't quite revolve perfectly symmetrical around the sun and every few hundred millons of years or so it reaches its peak where it has ice caps or is warming up? Thats what i was thinking today.

Good input Ben, I believe as do many other Scientists that green house gases are primarily responsible for global warming along with many other contributing factors, and yes man has definatly contributed to the problem. Volacnic eruptions have added on a level of magnitude over the past 50 years more chlorene to the stratosphere (Ozone Depleation) than all of the chloroflourcarbons (CFC's)ever produced by mankind IE. refrigerants, aerisol sprays, foam insulation etc. The biggest single man made impact I believe to global warming is the deforestization of the planet.

What we realy need to do is to get the entire world interested in growing giant pumpkins. Make it the world's #1 sport. If all the giant pumpkins are just grow in a certian area, this could cause the Earth to tip; thus, causing the largest climat changes in history.

i read the article lobsta. if that guys theory of fresh water being stagnated is correct, at almost any time we could hit a small cold spell of a few years, a medium one of 100-1000 years or major one that could last for 1000's of years. guess that life is too short to drink cheap wine or to hold back on planting your good seeds till you have your soil "just right". next year may just be the last one for a while. i don't rightly know what to believe.

Nobody knows the travel at sea, nobody knows, Jesus! they sang in "Roots". We can sing the same.
Nobody is really sure about what is happening with the climate, but I do know something, we are going faster than regeneration Earth capacity, and faster and faster. Too much of many bad things goes to the air, to the water, to the soil, too much CO2, SO2, S2O3... and too much is taken from Nature, too many fish, too many trees. And ironically fellow people are much more concerned in this subject than presidents and millionaires. Or am I wrong? Maybe is better for a nice night rest not to think much in it...

To many fish Don??? Next thing you'll be saying,,too many deer taken also...SIGH!! Animals are just like us,,we must take some,,or else they will,,as mark says,,you;ll have inbreds everywhere which leads to stunted growth....The tree issue I'll agree with..LOL.....Not arguing with ya Don.....

You know what i hate the most?? My self and all of man kind. We screwed up everything. We think we are so smart but we can't relize how stupid we are. I wish we knew 1% of how nature worked but we probably dont know 1/100 of 1% of how nature works.
Ben
P.S. After reading the thing that lobsta posted and what G posted about having to control the dear and other animals because we killed their prediters, where are out prediters? We need prediters. Our population is out of control. Mabey we shouldn't lock up all murderers or kill man eating beasts?? This is not realalistic but it makes me wonder. People will probably think i am crazy, i probably am.

ben don't hate yourself..the earth is a pretty tough piece of equipment, very resiliant..when i was a kid we flushed are toilets right into the rivers and oceans, complete waterways where polluted, now there is more wildlife than ever up here and most waterways are in fantastic shape.everything is in constant change for good or worse and that my friend is what makes the world go round and builds character in human kind, don't be depressed.

Hay Ben, by the painting on the wall, and the pace General George Jr. is going, you won't have to worry about "our natural predators" we all my be thinned out by our fellow man! Don't get me wrong there are plenty of fanatical bastards out there that don't care how big you grow pumpkins, you are just another American, so maybe George has a point. I think the best course for our little group is to grow the best seed you can, and hope for the best. Hell my Grandparents had a stocked up bomb shelter in their back yard for 50 years! Live your lives to fullest in the time we have.

Some interesting information i just found, 2002 was the second warmest year in recorded history, 1998 was the warmest. The title of the article reads, 2002-second warmest year on record; scientist say shame on people.

How ya going to get to Antartica without money and or oil? I guess you could walk or swim. Not much up there to keep your fire going either, snow does not burn very well I was told. Just a few things to think about before the rest of us destroy the world.

It's a shame what they teach kids in school these days. Maybe we could go back to the good old days when we lived in harmony with the earth and lived to an average age of 27.

hEY BLKCLOUD, LISTEN: men knows nothing!
Nothing means less than 1% of all we need to know, we want to know and we are going to know in a future. Sharks are not funny creatures, some people can say about them the same you did about coyotes, but scientists have found out now that the shark cartilagous is a great medicine against some kinds of cancer. We have already lost too many species and the most of us don't like the number our Earth still loosing day after day.
I wonder how you end with the wolf in your big country in two hundred years, and they still living in our little one after two thousand. Even the sequoias and the buffalos could be extincted, God bless the were more lucky. I've seen all over the World enough proofs of what I am talking about, like the sad surroundings of the awesome Olympic Nat Park and how men expoil those woods, not only with ambition but with hate. One thing is hard to discuss: nowadays man is no good for Nature. Of course, we the giant pumpkin growers are a remarkable exception.

Coyote is now in every county in the state of Pennsylvania yet few know he exists. The beauty of it all is coyote has found out that cat meat is great and not as jaggy as porcupine. We owe a great debt to the coyote. The free roaming cats hardly exist in our state anymore. Wonder what his next best meal will become.
