my personal thought about the subject,is that these guys are getting so many bubble packs sent to them, more and more every year, what will they do,if i ever raise any good pumpkins that some one may want some seed,i was going to donate most of my seed to bp,i like to trade for things other than seed,,,have 845 bobier, times are changing as the older generation will be replaced by the young generation, once the dills patten are what ever you may call it runs out in 2004 things will change, growers will start setting on there seed and try to sell for the highest money, why would some one sell there stock of seed to dill when they can keep it and sell it there self, there will be seed sights all over the internet, selling seed to who ever wants them.

I like to compare it as for Linux and Microsoft. We all know what Microsoft stands for - $$$. Linux is under the GNU General Public License which means that its source code is freely-distributed and available to the general public. Here are some words from the preamble of the GNU, "software" was replaced with "seeds":
"The licenses for most seeds are designed to take away your freedom to share and change it. By contrast, the GNU General Public License is intended to guarantee your freedom to share and change free seeds--to make sure the seeds are free for all its users."
"When we speak of free seeds, we are referring to freedom, not price. Our General Public Licenses are designed to make sure that you have the freedom to distribute free seeds (and charge for this service if you wish), that you receive source code (genetics) or can get it if you want it, that you can use seeds in new free programs (genetic combinations); and that you know you can do these things."
Charge for this service - yes, I send bubble envelopes including postage, address/sender lables when I ask for seeds to make it simple and without additional charge for the contacted grower. Linux is permanently under "worldwide construction" to make it better every day. So what about seeds? Will all these growers continue to improve genetics for healthier plants and bigger pumpkins if you need to pay a lot of money only to get some seeds without any warranty? I believe not. Take a new Windows OS (like I had last year, the new XP with hundreds of bugs) - you pay to be their Beta tester. Sorry, that has nothing to do with fun and hobby any more. I hope there will be GNU for AG´s.
