My second patch is being irrigated from dam water. The dam is getting quite low and the overhead sprinklers are making everything brown tinged from the iron. Will huge amount of iron be bad for atlantic giants??? Either way there's not much I can do about it. Thanks. Ben

Ben,
I have consulted with an agronomist in relation to your query. His comments were: 1 The problem is most probably pumping soil, with high suspended solids in the water. 2 You might consider adjusting the pump suction height or finding an alternate source of water. 3 There is the potential to harm the pumpkin through suffocation. 4 To be sure of the problem, you might want to consider a Nutrient Advantage Water Analysis thru an Incitec dealer.
Hope this helps,
Johnno
