Yes it produced the 1028 Hester in 2001, I grew it and it was a fantastic plant! It produced a perfect 608 pounder, I screwed up alot with that plant. I killed a beauty of a pumpkin on the main vine and had to gow with the 608 on a back runner that was two weeks younger than the main vine fruit. Still it was a very thick creamy colored pumpkin, that had great shape, and stem. The plant was a monster I kept it chopped back to 800 sqft or so, but boy was it agressive, and an excellent rooter! I selfed the plant and have alot of seeds left if anyone wants some. Send a sasbp to:

I had two 1049's but they were real sorry looking and felt empty. I tried one this past year anyway....it didn't germinate.

Don, I tried to germinat the 1049 this past spring as well with no sucess and it was in the a team germination chamber so you know it was pampered! I opened it up after 10 days and it was hollow....

Thanks Gad. Didn't you notice anything odd in the seed prior to try to germinate it?

I grew the 1049 Holland seed this year and got 2 nice pumpkins off of it. One went 442.5 pounds but was 78.5 pounds light. The other one went 585. Both pumpkins looked exactly the same, 1049 X self, very orange and round. The judges thought so much of it at my local fair, I won best of show and got an article in the paper. The plant was vigorous and the stump was huge. I can't complain about it at all. ak

That is more than 1000 pounds for one plant. Not bad report, Raven

Yes Don, I noticed the seed sounded hollow when drop tested, but what do you do, plant it or pitch it? I have a couple of more, but they also sound a little "tinny" when drop tested...
