Dave....I have grown the 655 Johnson 1996. I had it in a bad spot. Nice plant...kind of vigorous, and didnt set fruit well. I know of others who have had this problem. Usually throws wheel shaped fruit that vary from salmon color to a nice red orange color. The 655 has grown the 784 and 752 creuziger and a 512 lber, i forgot the grower. Mine was 300 lbs or so est, but it felt much heavier.

Drake: I don't think it was from the seed. I had the same problem with all four of my plants this year. I asume it was from too much fertilizer compined with manure in the pit. At least that is what I think my problem was. Dave Snow grew the 810 this year. He did grow a 700lber. But i am not sure if it was on the 810.

If the 730 Stelpflug you are asking about is from 1996 ? (887 Orr x 963 Zehr) Al Berard grew a 710&747.6 (same plant) in 99, and in 2001 grew a 746.

Ya, with the 810, there just seemed to be something different about the plant that I had no idea what it was, just seemed different, also the pumpkins would get up to 100lbs then turn orange, once orange, rot. Got some fairly good genetics though!

i grew a 655 this year, and wasn't too impressed. i couldn't get anything to set on the main vine, and ended up with one about 250 or so, and two others about 150. colored nice, but i expected more.
