One question to hear opinions: In order to provide a nice microclimate into the pumpkin cloches, you have to manage ventilation in warm days. Then, what temperature do you like to have at the plant level in the hottest part of the day?

Hello Don,
My preferance (as though that were ever the case) would be 80* F at 60-65% relative humidity. But that is a casual observation, not a scientific one. Anyone else?

it depends on how you set up your cloches... as to how hot they get inside. many people do have problems on warm sunny days. and have vents. I saw some neat windows in a green house catalog that automatically open up as the temperature heats up, and close as the temp goes down. slick but expensive. typically you don't want you inside temperature to get above 90°.

Heat is good! My dictionary says a cloche is a 'woman's bell shaped hat', so I'm not sure how that relates to pumpkins but I grow exclusively in greenhouses and am interested in whatever other greenhouse growers are up to. I try to not let the greenhouse get above 34 degrees celcius. Lee Valley sells automatic window openers which are not that expensive, you attach them to any window or hatch of some sort (piece of plywood) which is on a hinge. Very effective units. Would love to exchange info with other greenhouse growers, Vaughan, [email protected]
