Ok, i know there's a bunch of you out there that have done a soil test sometime for your pumpkins. just a reminder for you that i'm collecting soil test results and compiling them so that you can compare to other growers. i would like to also say a big thank you to those that have already contributed. I have over 100 tests on file now. please send any and all results you can to me at [email protected] , and i will send you a copy of the updated file with your results in it. I have results from some top growers (checkons, pukos, and rivard just to name a couple) for you to compare with. if any of you know some of the "heavy hitters" (as well as any other growers that have done soil tests) that are not on this site, please try to send the message along to them. there are some soils that i'm sure we would all like info on. this project will become incorporated into the aggc later this winter, when mike's genetic workload dies down, so your input is greatly appreciated.

Hey Andy I have a couple of tests but no pumpkins yet! I believe I'm sitting on a soil born disease. Just dropped off another soil sample, Root stump, vine sections and rotting fruit for tissue samples to Rutgers AG extension will have the results of the tests in a few days but nothing for pumpkin info would it still be of interest without any pumpkin info. O.K. since we are on the subject. Where is the best place to get your sample done for growing Atlantic Giants. What is the normal test you have done? What cost? My County AG extension, and my Horticulturist neighbor thinks i have fallen off my rocker. When I tell them what fertilizers we use and why? Although they wont plant one and give it a try. Shannon

Hey Rainydays, I've used Penn State and Rutgers for soil tests both seemed fine and tests were supported with personalized recommedations for soil amendments....Out of state is more expensive so I'll stick with Rutgers for now on. Rutgers Charges ten bucks in state for a soil test...Because I've got a problem with the patch I brought the plant tissue samples in for testing thats 30 bucks in state...75 out of state...Check your county ag office for local agencies...best of luck and Grow em BiG!! paul - yes i have your previous test (thanks), and if you would like to add along what your amendments were, that would be great too.
shannon (and others that have asked me) - I use A+L labs out of modesto, CA. all it costs is 27 dollars for a complete test. i support A+L (there are several branches around the US+CA), but Kinsey, UMASS, and a couple others also top my list of the quality of results that i've seen. here's the web links for soil testing places that i have info on:
