Which one which one would you guys/gals prefer?
I can get the bagged manure here cheaper than the stuff out of a barn. Not to mention that it can be forklifted on to my truck and I can distributed it to my patch more evenly.
Would they be anymore more benefits if I got it out of the barn or would it be about the same?
Thanks for any info..

That sounds really strange...Most guys are happy to give it away if you pick it up...Composted manure is ready to go if you get fresh it would have to be now way to hot for seedlings! Chuck

Push the cows out of the way, bring the bobcat in and scoop it up. That's the best way to get it,

If you buy the bags, check to see if they have any broken or ripped ones.I usually get these for half price here in ontario..may save you a buck or 2....the free poo from a farmer friend is much better though, as long as its well composted.

If applied in the fall the manure doesn't have to be composted. I apply mine in late Oct. fresh from the cow.

I divide the manure (fresh but not wet) in two halfs. I broadcast and till one half in october and compost the other half during the fall (I remove it 4-5 times), let it mature in winter and use it in spring.

I have a farmer friend that I gave $20.00 to 4 years ago for a 5 ton truck load of manure, and every year he brings at least 1 or if I ask he brings in 2, I have tryed to pay him every year since and he just laugh's at me and says to keep it for other pumpkin supply's, hec-of-uh-nice guy. ..<'v'>.. ....U....

I once put several bags of name brand "Composted Cow Manure" into my garden. They must have been 93% seeds. Never had such a problem before or since. The weeds were growing like they were shot out of a cannon, dwarfed my corn in no time at all. They persisted for several years.
My advice would be to stick with the barn, a known commodity.

I live in the surburbs. To a pointed question, "What is that pile of black stinking stuff in your driveway"? I answered, "a pile of black stinking horse shit fertilizer for my garden". I have had no further questions. You folks are getting me in trouble. :)

Check this out, I just bought a mini farm about 1/2 mile from a 400 head dair farm. I gave the old cow milker a bunch of Mommas home made oat meal cookies, and he delivered 25 yards of old rotted manure to me for free, I gave him 60 bucks anyway, and he said he will bring more for free if I want it. I love the Country!

Just to say I'm back and growing again for my second year. Having moved back to the farm from town I was able to dig out quite a pile of sheep poop from under the shearing shed topped off with a good helping of chicken poop and a BIG helping of cow poo. I am growing 6 plants this year as space is no problem

Darky, if you get a chance, post some pictures. I would love to see what your patch looks like throughout the season. Best wishes and good luck.
