Has anyone used with success aminoacids or hormones, like gyberelins to feed the pumpkins? I don't mean the natural ones that cames with seaweed extract, but the isolated and concentrated products. Thank you

I got a whole pile of expired birth control pills this year and fed them to one of my plants...i'm not sure it did any good or not. They have hormones.......Has anyone tried feeding CREATINE to there plants, it's a bodybuilding supplement that makes muscle cells retain water therefore they get bigger....exactly what you want your pumpkin to do.

Where did you get the idea that creatine makes you hold water??? It does just the opposite & that is why any trainer will tell you that you have to keep your water intake high when you take it. A lot of folks complained about pains when taking creatine, the pains were their kidneys "drying" out from lack of water. When creatine was 1st introduced quite a few high school wrestlers died from creatine intake. They were taking creatine to lose water & cutting back on their water intake on top of that ( a receipe for death) If you increase your water intake when you take creatine you will appear bigger because most people are under hydrated. If you do nothing but drink a gallon of water a day while training you will increase muscle mass due to the fact your muscles were probably crying for more water. I didn't mean to go on and on about this but when I was competing it was not uncommon to hear about creatine induced deaths due to reduced water intake while taking it........Paul

Creatine isn't a steroid , it's found in red meat, they separate it from the meat and concentrate it. I have not used it on my pumpkins but am curious if anyone has.

Creatine in it's natural form is in meat, but the creatine found in supplements is synthetic. Just using numbers as a example lets say red meat's creatine total is a (5) & 5 is what the body needs daily. Well most creatine supplements total is around 2,000. More doesn't always mean better.........Paul

Hmmm.. sorry I guess i read wrong. It was my understanding that after loading it up in your system it made the muscle cells retain water and oxygen which in turn gives energy and strength. Probably would't help our pumpkins grow bigger anyway.

No problem, I was not attacking you I was just afraid some young buck might read it & be mislead & take it the wrong way. I've have had a training buddy die from taking it.....Paul

No..No..No I only posted that to show the dangers of overdoing supplements. He knew he was walking a fine line. And I advise ANYONE who ever takes over the counter supplements to research it well. The FDA has very little say to what some companies put on the shelves. Boy, A thread sure can do a 160 can't it?.....LOL

I am sorry folks, I thought we were trying to talk about pumkins not human muscles. I wasn't joking, in Spain there are many plant commercial products containing isolated aminoacids, vegetable growers use with horticultural succedd.

Ren: you must know, that all that stuff that in the birth controll pills can stay for years in your soil and getting slowly into the ground water. Do you know wich effect does oestrogen has on mens? In my eyes it is high dangerous to play with that chemicals or hormones, because you just dont know the whole impact it has on the enviroment! my 2 eurocents

dichter...you have a good point, the plant i was refering to was in an isolated area .I took the severed end of the vine with the pumpkin on it and inserted it into a plastic bottle which contained the desolved tablet in water, never pouring it directly on the soil.I think this is called wicking. And we don't eat any of our atlantic giants...This plant only grew an aprox. 150lb pumpkin ,probably hurt the plant more than anything..

I USE A FEW PLANT GROWTH REGULATORS,PROGIBB 4%--I HAVE USED ON MY PEPPERS AND CUCUMBERS,I HAVE USED EARLY HARVEST---I HAVE USED PGR IV---THEY ALL HAVE GIBBERELIC ACID--GIBBERELIC ACID&INDOLEBUTYRIC ACID& KINETIN,THERE ARE MANY MORE PLANT GROWTH REGULATORS,WHEN USING YOU HAVE TO MAKE SURE YOU APPLY AT CERTAIN GROWTH STAGES,BECAUSE IT MAY RETARD GROWTH INSTEAD OF ACCELERATE,I HAVE ONE PLANT GROWTH REGULATOR THAT A COMPANY SENT ME,IT MAY HELP PREVENT CRACKING AND ADD EXTRA ACCELERATED GROWTH,I WILL PLAY WITH IT NEXT YEAR.
