Here is my question, I was in a weigh off with a garden center, it was very late for southern california. My pumpkin was done growing 3 weeks before the regional, it actually shrunk 2.5 inches ott sitting on the vine done. I went to my regional contest, they only taped the pumpkins to estimate them. I won, estimated 315 lbs. My pumpkin was cut at the base of the stem and put on display for a week until the finals where it was weighed, so I'm sure I lost some weight because no precautions for weight loss were taken. My pumpkin weighed 361 lbs at the final, it was great. So what would be ethical on my weight? I mean, can I say I grew a 375 lb pumpkin estimating( I think that's conservative) or do I have to say 361 knowing that it weighed more? Any advice would help. Thanks, Jim

my question is , was your pumpkin the only one that was acutally weighed??......if so, this was more like a "measure-off" then a weighoff. As for your last question, in theory you do know that it weighed more, but it wasnt weighed then. That's the problem. Technically your pumpkin would called the 361 (insert last name here), you can always add a caveat about what happened.

Jim plant latter next year. I would have to a gree with Scot if you weighed it and it only weighed 361 than thats what it should be called. If you didn't weigh it it should be called 375 est.
