there are 25 herbicides that can be used on pumpkins,preemergence-post emergence-some herbicides can be sprayed on pumpkins to kill grass and broadleaf and will not kill pumpkins, some preemergence to spray on the ground to keep plants from coming out of the ground, post emergence to spray your garden when weeds are allready up and before you plant your pumpkin seed,if you are interested in any of these herbicides e-mail me and i will give you all the information on what kind to use for what kind of weeds you may have, here is the list acquire-boa-command 3ec-command 4ec-credit systemic-curbiy ec-cyclone max-debit tmf-glyphomax-glyphmax plus-glyphosate original-gramoxone extra-gramoxone max-poast-prism-rattler-roundup custom-roundup original-roundup ultra-select 2ec-touchdown.

hello ben, preemergence is used before you plant,i till my rolls and spray with a preemergence a month before i plant, that way if any weeds do come up i can spray with a post herbicide like round up are cobra,it will kill the weeds on contact, command 4ec is a good pre emergence to use for pumpkins,it will not hurt your plant if used as directed.

hello ben it really depends on many things,if you interrupt the soil, till are hoe,the amount of rain, after you spray,i spray in one area where i plant pumpkin ,and do not till are hoe, i did not interrupt the soil at all, i did not have any weeds, where i planted and i worked up the ground, till, hoe etc,the weeds come up after a rain,i plant 1,000 cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower just about every year,i use treflan tr-10 it is a granular herbicide it is some good stuff,i work the ground hoe, till and i always have huge, basketball heads of broccoli an d cabbage and cauliflower, when people say it will effect the size of what ever you grow i just dont think it will,it may slow your growth a week are two if you use to much preemergence, but they will catch up,i put to much cobra down on one of my rolls of pumpkins it did slow the groth down when they come out of the ground ,but they did catch up with the others.

The jury is still out if using any type of pre-emergent, may or may not hinder plant growth. Why take the chance? Bottom line: You've got to get out there and hand weed!
