My soil test report is back. How much elemental sulfur should I add? I’m adding a lot of leaves and have a good stand of buckwheat for a green manure crop established. Do the other readings look ok? Thanks in advance,
stewee

ph=7.4, salts=0 .64, organic matter=3.7, N ppm=38.1, P ppm=250, K ppm=780, Sulfate S ppm=20, Zinc Zn ppm=15.24, Iron Fe ppm=14.5, Manganese Mn ppm=4.9, Copper Cu ppm=.96, Calcium Ca ppm=2239, Magnesium Mg ppm=292, Sodium Na ppm=47, Boron B ppm =2.10

i'm no pro at this, but your organic matter is low. get all the leaves you can this fall and roto-till them in. also some manure. Everytime you mow your lawn, you can add the grass clippings to. My soil test came back with a organic matter of 9.9+

Dave,
Dont worry too much about your organic matter, try to improve it, but dont dwell on it. We have 3.3% organic matter, and did just fine. I would say that your Magnesium is low for sure. Not sure how much Sulfur you should add. Here in my neck of the woods, the pH is low, not high.

If it was my soil I would use Ammonium Sulphate instead of elemental Sulphur as it will raise the N level which is a little low.I think that is a good test result.

I agree with Tom...organic matter could be higher....mine was only 3.5 and I just had my best season ever..try to bring it up but don't worry...find out your CEC level ( Cation Exchange Capacity)...it determines the available Potassium...Magnesium and Calcium....15 or above is good...

Here's my 2 cent worth....B over 2ppm is high. P,K,and Z look good.Ca/Mg ratio is about 8 to 1 should be closer to 6 to 1, need some Mg. I would add some S,Fe,Mn and Cu.
S need to lower ph 1 point per 100 sqft. sandy 1 lb, loamy 1.5 lbs and clay 2 lbs.
I would try some Ironite in spring it's a good source of Fe and S. Also has N,Ca,Mg,Mn,and Z....good luck...Bob

Thanks everyone, Wayne my CEC is 15.8, What is the range for this and is there anything I need to do to keep it at this reading?? Bob, is there a down side to having high Boron?

your Boron is to high....your CEC is good...clay content of soil effects your CEC as well as your %Organic matter....I agree with adding some Ironite as well..wayne

hi guys, i'll remind anyone who reads this that i'm still continuing to collect soil test results. just email the results to me at [email protected] i have about 90 tests from other pumpkin growers for you to compare to. i'll be posting a major reminder about this soon, as this is going to become an impressive project if people continue to contribute.
