Due to low participation and excessive personal opinions, Im going to scrap the top 10 list idea. Good in theory, bad in practice. I found Stan's comments disappointing. Kind of rained on my parade. All I asked was for one to consider a particular seed's track record, as a whole. Not necessarily in your own patch. Although, i can understand the disappointment watching a great seed do little or nothing. I thought a list like this would be helpful to all, as I intended to write a little history about each seed, it could have been a great biography of AG history. Yes, its all in the AGGC, but the AGGC isnt here, where i like to submit my articles. When the pumpkin withdrawal symptoms set in about January, arent you all going to be desperetly digging for some new info? You've hit every site on the web, 10 times, looking for anything to satisfy that craving. Thats how i approached the situation, cuz thats the situation i find myslef in. But obviously, there arent enough people out there that have the same train of thought. I'm not bitter, dont get me wrong, its just frustrating when you got your mind set on a fun project like this only to watch it dry up in less than a day. I'll continue to write, but i probably wont be asking for reader input. Back to lurker status...

Joze, I thought it was a great idea. I did not input since I have not raised AGs very long and my season this year was a disaster. So I felt that my opinion should not hold the same weight or value as to someone who has grown for many years or can grow them big in just a year or two....Tom

Hey Joze, I thought it was a great idea too! I go along with Tom on this subject. I think you will find that the people like myself who haven't had any success with growing a big un want to hear what the big growers think! I also don't have enough experience or know how to tell you what I think a great pumpkin genetic is....Oh yeah I can look at the AGGC and see some common seeds that work there way through but in reality what chance do I have of getting one of those seeds....You keep writing, all of newbies will keep reading! thanks for all the free info and keep growing em big!! Chuck

Joze, please don't give up on that idea, it was a great one!!!! However, I was wondering if you did use this idea, could you possibly, if there is enough info, possibly state its track record of notable fruit...i.e. 845 bobier 00:1260 weir in 2001, and 1337 houghton in 2002, along with some pictures to show color, its wight: heavy or light by what %, possibly showing, even though a seed gets older, wow it's still is doing well, like the 567...Still, thank you for you articles!!! Joe i think you should do the story, I am sure some would find it interesting. I know i would. Write for yourself, not what others want. Write what makes you happy. ben

I agree with the usuals here but think the 575 Dill is being overlooked as the mother of most seeds. Is the 879 Holland that shotty of a seed? David
