One frustrating thing for me this time of year is figuring out how everyone did. I see the standings from all the weighoffs but sometimes linking those names to screen names at BigPumpkins.com is impossible. I'm so confused I used to think that "Stan" Stan and "peepers" Stan were the same person....heck, maybe they are, I don't know. I would really like to know how y'all did.

Good Idea! I was thinking the same thing. This was my first season with AG'S and I had an official 392.5 lber, now my personal best. It was grown on the 845 Nesbitt and crossed with the 922.5 Emmons. I had two pumpkins on the 945 VanIderstine est. at 350 and 360lbs. I also had a pumpkin on the 922.5 Emmons that fell in August to rot at an est. of 390.8 lbs. All and all Im happy with my rookie year. Walcott Pumpkin (Mike Frantz) Iowa

I grew two Big Moons. The chippies got one. Neither were impressive. I found out why by coming here. Thanks for being here and sharing. I know I can beat the three corrnered Big Moon that measured 200# and weighed all of about 100#. So I measured that three cornered sucker wrong too. The patch is going to be right for a good seed next year. The 1500# pumpkin is at least in my mind. }:o)

this is my 4th year. my big pumpkin was 917.4, and my big squash was 451.8. funny, they were both 36th in the gpc standings this year for their respective categories. going for 4 digits in pumpkin and the state record for green next year.

8th year grower, only 20. Personal best 762 lbs, 2000. This year i had a big one split on sept 18th...it weighed 830 lbs (712 kuhn). That was a heartbreaker. Many fruit split this year for me also (too many pointers from mark p...lol...j/k)....i think i found a way to grow them, but a bit too fast as i had the highest growth rates this past season than ever before.
Other noteable fruit this year: Offcial fruit: 494* squash (120 lbs heavy, 31% over estimate; 744 welty x 943.5* McCallum) and 453.5 from the 802 Geiger. Unofficial or Est: 572.5 uow (culled aug 15th, had a good month to grow yet), 553 uow(culled aug 23rd), 507.5 uow (also culled aug 15th), 483 uow, 300 est, 400 est (712 kuhn x 962 Willemse...love the cross, sound fruit, sister fruit to 830 uow.) Lots of split fruit here ended up growing a total of six pumpkins. 810 lbs DQ'd, 710 lbs DQ'd, 701 lbs Est, 549 lbs Est, 472 lbs (took first at the Eastern Idaho State Fair), and 421 lbs Est. This was my forth year growing AG's and the fall soil prep has begun in earnest. Trying to beat 900 lbs next year.

This is the first year that my plant was able to grow, but because I planted too late, all I got was a 7 Lb'er. ;-(
But on a happier note, next year it will be easy to beat my own record. lol

My first year getting the Atlantic Giants to grow big. Placed 5th at Altoona with a 822.4 and also grew a 800lb that was weighed at a local feed mill. My goal was to at least have a 600lb pumpkin this year. Done so well this year, i would love to have a 1,000lbs. next year.

3rd year grower, and 1st year taking something to weighoff. My 683 took 1st place at VA State Fair, the 555.8 placed 14th at Altoona, and the 519 (EST) had a small hole underneath so I just stuck it in the yard. Last year everything split or rotted early, so I was happy to finally make it to weighoff.

First year for me. Two pumpkins officially weighed were both 590.5 lbs. Had a 762 est. split in early august, and took down a 673 pounder in mid august with a soft spot that went through to the cavity. Other unofficial weights; 486, 347,and 480. There are two more in the patch estimated over 450 which I need to get seeds from. I was lucky to have a very good grower help me some, and answer hundreds of questions. You may have heard of him, his name is Case. I enjoy this site and the people who make it what it is, because you all helped me too.

In a pot 12 inches across and 20 inches deep on top of a roof 6 feet by 3 feet wide, I grew a cheese pumpkin that eventually had a vine 35 feet long (lots of weaving back and forth across the roof) and that produced a fully mature perfectly shaped (grew blossom end down) fruit that weighed 35 pounds. Please someone tell me "Congradualtions!". By the way, my name is Mark.

We grew 3 plants here. Got a 648 off of the 815 Checkon plant, a 481 off the 771.6 Rockwell, & a 383 off of the 547 Armstrong plant. The Rockwell & Armstrong plants received considerably more heat damage to the vines than the Checkon.

I am a first year grower and wanted to let BP know that I lost 5 pumpkins this summer. I think I did everything wrong and, by default, will have to be better next year. Also, I am new to gardening but have I learned a lot.
I think I may have set the age record for starting out growing GP's, 71. Thanks all for your help. Mary Ruth Deetz
