I do all of my composting in my pumpkin patch in the fall. I add all the grass clippings, tree leaves, annual flowers, hosta leaves, pumpkin vines and pumpkins, and anything else I come up with. Then I till and spray with daconil and sevin.I know this isn't an ideal situation, but it is my best option. I am thinking that all of this plant matter needs to decompose prior to soil testing, so the spring is the time to test.

Small patch, should do your soil test in fall. This will allow you time to adjust your soil if need be for next year. PH adjustment can take several months .Steve
