For anyone interested, here are the results of my season:
Tomato: 1.64# not a good year for 'maters! Muskmelons: 34# and 32.2#, DQ'd at weigh-off, for being frozen Long Gourd: 78"- 1st place in Canfield Watermelons: 92.5# and 121.5# Hard Stem pumpkin: 33.5# Squash: 679.5# (3rd place at Canfield, new Penna. state record!) Pumpkins: Lost 800.5# est. on Friday the 13th (9/13/02), due to blossom end split At G.P.C. weigh-off, 647# and 680# pumpkins Lots of food for the winter! Also received "Grand Exhibitor" Award at Canfield
Don't like to "toot my own horn", but dey it is!

there was one-heck-of-a-lot of work put into all that you did Kilr, Don't worry about tootin your own horn, if you don't someone will shove cow manure down it!!!LMAO

congrats kilr on all the hard work!!do you supply your own long gourd seeds?if so could you tell me when the seeds should be taken out of the gourd to dry..i took seeds out of a gourd a few weeks ago and they were all empty.

Kil'r tell Pappy you were resting the good patches this year! That seems the proper answer. Good Lord when you grow on fly ash or reconstituted coal fields one must understand there are good and a little less than great years. :} ....Sorry I missed you at Altoona. I got pretty tired and just slinked in my lawn chair waiting for TC to appear. I was taking notes for next year. :) I live an hour or so West of TC. He is coaching me. Great guy.
