I'd also like to know. I've found a water-soluble calcium product that I plan to use. (are there lots of water-soluble calcium product on the market?)

Yes especially if you have to raise the PH with lime. Used gypsum to break up the clay and after soil test was told not to add lime until the calcium levels dropped.
