Here's a tip for those of you displaying large pumpkins- Its by force of habit to display our pumpkins stem up, blossom down. But often times, the shape of the fruit does not allow that to happen without some sort of support. I think using supports like that make the whole set-up look pretty ugly, so what i do is turn the pumpkin upside down. Stand that sucker on its stem end, blossom to the sky. They look real cool this way, and stand on their own w/out support. Give it a try!

I sent a message to start a new topic, but it was never posted. I said that I woundered why many pumpkins that have a great shape so that they can be displayed with handle up and blossom end down are always displayed on their sides. Just look at all the tons of pics at this site. Many show all sides of a fruit and you can see it can be stem up, but almost never do you see them that way. They would be so much nicer looking like that. After the final weigh ins are done, why not set up the ones that can be stem up that way, ones that can be done like Deer said, done that way, and the rest on their sides.
