For you Rick A very very large sheet of plastic. Thats all I covered mine with last yr, or I turned the water on them from the tap its around 50+ so I would get up during the period it would frost and turn the water on. As big as your patch is check e-bay to see if anyone is selling a stadium....lol Ken

I don't think that stuff really works they are just trying to empty your pocket book. I'm with Ken a large sheet of plastic works great but its a real pain.

don't let the plastic touch the pumpkin, or it will still get frostbit you need a layer of air between the two

I've had mine wrapped under a poly tarp with a heavy black landscape fabric over top of that and it has now survived 5 days of temps as low as -6C (21.2F). I thank my neighbour Darcy for the use of the fabric which he found discarded by the highway. The fabric is 12' wide by about 15' long.

I've got a 20 x 60 greenhouse built over mine. Inside there is a woodstove which is kept humming along 24 hrs a day. Some mornings its been only slightly above freezing. But no frost yet!
