I have a pumpkin I need to save for 15 more days until our local fair. It is approx. 400 pounds with it's stem on top with a semi-squishy area with foamy water in the concave top of the pumpkin. I have cut back the stem (the source of the water?) and dried it with a paper towel. I'm concerned this will be a problem area for the next 15 days and could rot the pumpkin. I have scooped any soft, fleshy pumpkin material from the top out and am at the "cap" of the top of the pumpkin with no stem essentially. Can you please recommend what I can apply or do to keep this area from progressing??? I keep in dry and am not able to move it freely at this point because of its size. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A small fan blowing on it will help keep it dry. I'd also coat the area with Captan if available.
