Been off line since June. Well didnt think I would have anything for size in my patch this season. Had to find a new growing area this year after my landlord told me I could not grow on her property anymore. Bought a piece of hillside a few miles away, and went to work on it. Had soil tested, was really bad,at 5.1 and very low on almost everything. Added 14 loads of horse manure and 5 or 6 hundred pounds of lime to bring ph up. I can still reach down and pull up a white handfull of lime and dirt in some places. No water supply other than a few barrels that I haued and dumped on my best prospect The drought and very little water caused the other pumpkins to mature early. I have a nice one still going that measures out a little ahead of our presant State record of 651 lb. It measures 147x88x88. Gaining about a half inch per day. at day 64.

Good luck and keep going. I wouldn't even try hauling water for my patch. We get no rain in the summer.
