Well, I did it....I got up the nerve to pick my biggest pumpkin for the local contest. There were 10 entries...and I got third. The prize was a $10.00 gift certificate at our local general store. The largest pumpkin entered weighed 200 pounds, 2nd weighed 180 pounds and mine weighed 140 pounds. This was a year of smaller pumpkins it seems. (My largest last year weighed 192 pounds.) It also took third.
The weather here is unseasonably hot. My other 7 pumpkins are still growing. There are no more contests handy here this year. I will let them grow as long as possible and then cut them and display a week or so, and then give most of them away. The neighbour kids, as well as my two little granddaughters can hardly wait! (:

Great for you D.S.!!! Sounds like you and your family and friends have many years of enjoyment ahead of you growing these behemoths!!! Congrat's on your 3rd place!!!

Thank you Pappy. Very nice to meet you. I am sure hooked on growing these things....I have had great luck ...no problems except small size. LOL Oh well, they are easier to handle (:
