Forecast previsions give 3-4 days of cold rain and minimum temperatures around 5-6 celsius degrees. I'm worried about pumpkin safely because I read that long time with temperatures near 10 celsius degrees and high humidity could cause rotting of the fruits. Thanks in advance for any suggestion. We have pumpkin festival the 20th of October: what about picking now the pumpkin and storage till October... how many weigh I loss? Thanks

I don't think that the cool weather ( low of 5°C will
cause your pumpkins to rot. but it will slow down or
stop the growth.
cool and dry is better than cool and wet. are they
covered ?
it is hard to tell how much weight a pumpkin will lose
after it is picked.
good luck

fyi, 5°C=41°F & 10°C=50°F

Watering works... when it changes to ice it gives off heat which keeps it from freezing. I'm covering mine with old blankets and a heavy black cloth, two layers thick. Tonight is going to freeze here.

So I got the pigs cleared out. Yesterday and this morning the chip monks moved in. We are very dry. That pumpkin was to much temptation. What can one say. "It's the end of the road this year".

Just wish I could mix some of your cold weather in Italy with a little of the 104 degree heat in California. We would both be happy then.
