Now is the time many of us have large pumpkins on the vine and wiegh offs are heating up, so do comments from non growers who see our fruits. There are so many, but I like this one the best "Is it real?" That cracks me up..LOL
What are your favorites?

can you eat it? i live in a small village, in germany. anything grown here "must" be something you eat, or preserve for later eating.....they don't understand the hobby/sport side of gowing them.

What the heck do you do to make a pumpkin grow so big?....everytime I have to start off by telling them it is a special type of pumpkin.

How many pie's can you make out of that pumpkin. How did you get it on your truck. Did you plant it in January. And if one more person ask's about milk I'm going to scream.

Most cannot believe that it grew in one summer, as if they could survive a WI winter. Yeah, right on.
I tell them that the fruit didnt start growing until the 4th of July and usually that sends their jaw to the floor.

I got a bunch of questions from people just wondering "What's the point of growing a pumpkin that big?" I just make sure they see some of the children gasping in awe......

Most of what I get this time of year is "have you figured out how you are going to get it to the fair?". Of course not, it never crossed my mind....guess I'll just put it in a wheel barrow and push it 70 miles to Richmond.

Living in a world where everyone seems to know (at least a little bit) about everything, AG growers offer one or two "things never seen before" to talk about. Isn´t that something? I have neighbours looking like transfixed from their balcony when I open the pumpkin cover to do OTT, "Area 51 over here?" Okay neighbours, wait for next season when I have these crop circles for you...(

Most people start laughing and say " I'll never seen a pumpkin so big" That makes me kind of proud until I tell them what what the worlds record is. Then they say" Oh..you are still lacking a 1000 pounds..

Question : How much does your pumpkin weigh? Answer : (put pounds here). Question : How do you pick it up to get the weight while it's still on the vine??

I am still laughing....hahaha....Most everyone around here asks me what I do with them? I tell them I make some neighbour kids happy halloween. I usually have 6 or so to give away. The next question "can you make pumpkin preserves out of them?" I tell them "pies" yes...preserves.."no" (They seem to be too watery for preserves.) Well pumpkin weigh off is tomorrow and I just hate the thoughts of cutting off my "big" one....WAHHHHHHHH...I can't do it I just can't..........
