Has anyone else grown the 1062 Rivard and only gotten green ugly, hideous, nasty, terrible, disgusting green squash from it? I have two revolting fruit around 150 lbs each.

What a pathetic waste of water and fertilizer!

Now if that doesn't stir up some conversation from a certain someone on the North East Coast (no names), I don't know what will.

LMAOROTF :)

Why leave well enough alone, when pushing someones buttons is so much more fun!!!!

LOL....Talk about a topic from heaven !! Lets see...i can bust on my old friend Rock Rivard for his seed...lol....or bust on my new friend David for not growing a big one from it....LOL....all along taking part in my role as defender of squash !....lol....or I can be boring and just comment normally. Well, from what I hear there are both green and orange from this seed...some stories of mishappen small greenies, and root problems. But, in defence of the 1062 its normal to hear bad things before the weighoffs, and good things usually come out after the weighoffs....so the verdict isnt in yet....not that the first year should make or break a seed anyway. I'd wait and see what happens in a month....Im sure there will be good news.........G

Mine seemed to have a mix; I pinched all the greenines ad only pollinated the pumpkins. This was on two 1062 plants. The better of the two went down due to disease, and the remaining has one that stopped growing around 450 lbs; nice & orange. This particular plant was a very slow grower in all sapects; too bad it's sibling went down because it had a fast growth rate and was supporting over a dozen pumpkins when I started to cull....all yellow. --Bruiser

My 1062 has given me nothing but nice yellow fruit. I will post a pic on my growers diary.

P.S. Green is a very nice color also. I have 2 on my 218 Andrews.(Thanks again G for the seeds).

I was at The Puyallup Fair this past Sunday selling seed for the Pacific Northwest Giant Pumpkin Growers. We had a table right next to the pumpkin carvers. There were pumpkin seeds in one area on the table and the SQUASH seeds were in a row of their own. You know what? We couldn't even give those squash seeds away! Everybody wanted ORANGE pumpkin producing seed! I even had one fellow come right in my face and roar, "That creme colored thing does not qualify as a pumpkin!" "Pumpkins are orange!" Well....I wasn't about to get into a fight over the matter!

I don't really have a problem at all with the "green". I actually kinda like the way they look. I was just trying to get G to "bite" on this one, but he didn't take the bait.

Oh well, It was worth a shot.
Maybe next time..........

All mine on the 1062 were light orange, none green. Down to my last one still on, it's a little lighter than the scroll bar slider's color. Shapewise, it's kind of a big blob, low, wide & long. Even the watermelon sized aborts & culls were yellow.

Stan:
I was wondering if you have any squash seeds left over and if you do what are they. Thanks for an answer.

They are part of our club's "stash". I cannot remember the names and numbers off the top of my head. E-mail me in private next week as I will be at The Puyallup Fair once again this Sunday.
