Is there any advantage to do this on a pumpkin plant? My neighbour cuts all his tomato plants until there are only the stem and the fruits left by the end of his season. He says fruits will get a little bigger after.

floh, i know this questin is left more to the heavy hitters, but i can tell you that my pumpkin quit growing, not an inch. After some rather radical pruning as you put it, and heavy fertilizer, it has picked up another 15-20 pounds over the last week. not much to speak of, but all the same i think every pound counts....owen
