I know of 4 people who grew large pumpkins from this seed and all of them split. So i'm wondering who's pumpkins on the 922.5 are holding up for them and will people grow this seed again or do you think it will be a constant splitter?

Well, the preliminary results look like another severe splitter. Only that amount of ones that make it to the scales in October will decide if it is worth planting again.

I was growing the 922.5 but the pumpkin went down to rot at @ 400lbs. I was really impressed with the plant. Handled the heat really well and grew very large vines and leaves. Didn't handle the 4 inch rain well though, or it caught some kind of disease. Was strongly considering growing it again next yr, but would like to hear about how many splits are out there. Mike

If one were to ask me, "Would you try the Emmons 922.5 next year?" I would answer, "Yes." Unfortunately for me, the plant broke off at ground level on May 25th. I am growing the Emmons 658 in its place....so far, NO SPLITS!

Sounds like a splitter noone should grow....send all your 922's to me and I'll see they get the proper treatment ...lol..... seriously, you havent heard of the ones that didnt split yet. When they get big...800-900 and beyond, they all run into situations. When they get old and neardone and mother nature pops a 3 inch storm or indian summer, problems arise.... Its not a good-odds game guys...dont forget that ! Wait till the weights are in then make a decision....but I'll take them now if ya want....lol....G

I grew the 922.5 this year and experienced the worst split of any pumpkin I've ever grown. You could fit a basketball through the split on the bottom. It was a fun plant to grow....very aggressive, healthy, and pumpkin put on 40+ pounds a day......but.......I probably won't grow it again because of the splitting problems. I think it's a big risk with someone growing only 2 or 3 plants. Alan

What is this I hear? Someone GIVING away 922.5 seed? I had to buy mine at the club auction! I'll take any additional seeds you've got! Did you know that even Geneva's personal 922.5 pumpkin developed a rib split? It was a 60" long torpedo!!

I would like to try the 922.5 seeds if you have any extra. Is sending them to Canada a problem? Email me if you would like to find a good home for a seed or two....*grin* By the way...is there anything you can do with a split?
