vine borers attacked my pumpkin so we injected some KILLERS into the main vine...well this got rid of the grub but the vine(main ) is to gone to continue feeding the pumpkin. Luckily a secondary has popped up a new pumpkin and is growing about an inch a day. Seeings how the injections worked killing the borers has anyone tried injecting fertilizer????.. I need a boost for this new pumpkin....PS I ALREADY STARTED IT TODAY...hahaha...figured I have notin to loose..Any thoughts?

I have yet to hear of anyone who has stuck a needle into a pumpkin or its vine that has helped it in any way....period! To my present knowledge, the "heavy hitters" do not stick needles into any part of the plant.

Any fertilizer to the plant must be first take up by the root system, and be in a form that the plant can naturally absorb and metabolize.

Fertilizer can also be taken in thru the leaf surfaces by foliar feeding. To prevent burn, use low numbers more frequently instead of high numbers infrequently. Besides water solubles, most common are fish or seaweed/kelp. Seaweed also has a high # of micro-nutrients and is higher in potash than nitrogen to aid fruit cell development.

Hi; Well I have heard of people injecting their vine. But I wouldn't do it. From my experience it wasn't good! I've had the same problem. So the person your getting your info on/about injecting it, might have a plan to do a sabotage mission, because I think you put too much into the vine, or not the proper amount of solution. Send me an email, cause I will be the hitman for ya. Cause it's probably the same connection... Stranger things have happen! (Makes you wonder????) Lates.
