I thought the pumpkin went over to Germany for an Octoberfest. I can't confirm that but maybe the seeds stayed with the pumkin.

John: you are correct! but just when all was lost Craig received a handful of seeds back from Germany maybe around 60 or so don't remember the exact amount? i'd have to check the letter i received from him, but anyway he kept some for himself and gave away some to friends and then i believe he put out all the seed requests and had his daughter put a seed on some of them(this is how i remember the story) a few lucky ones got a seed(looks like i was one) i was waiting to see how it performed this year but haven't heard a thing?

Some seeds were sent out though I dont think it was too many. I remember someone posting on this site about getting one. A site search also turns up a 1260 plant pic by BigWheels.

Glenn,

Did you grow one, or do you have a seed from Craig and are just waiting to see if someone else grew one before you devote any time to it? Just curious myself, for such a nice pumpkin it would be nice to see it's off spring.

I´m upset! A 1260 went to Bavaria which is a part of my country and that was just for fun (Octoberfest...( ??
Well that´s nothing amusing I want to tell you, I could just puke about something like that. "Hey, look at this thing, isn´t it a very big melon?" Can imagine these guys with the seventh crock of beer in their hands not even having a whiff of what they see.
Don´t misunderstand me about my fellow countrymen, but they are not worth to give them such a pumpkin, as well as I will never elect this Bavarian politician called Stoiber to be our next chancellor.
Ugg, just needed to blow out this. Nothing personal.

I also have a 1260 Weir seed, I wanted to grow it but I knew I was selling my house this year and didn't want to wast it! I may plant it on the new 7 acre mini farm we just purchased next season. BTW I just harvested my pumpkins for the Spokane Interstate Fair I took first with my 01 644 seed (new personal best), and my daughter took second with a 596 LB. 1230 Daletas seed.

Just checked what happened to the 1260 in Germany, take a look at my photo gallery. It was not as bad as I had expected..
