I started looking for tarps that will help lift "Wilbour" in the truck come weigh-off time. What I thought would work is the canvas they use on army wall tents, found one at a surplus store for ten bucks. It is 36" lengths sewn together (seams are about 2" overlapped double sewn on each edge) overall 10'x10'.
Question will this hold a seven hundred pound pumpkin??? will the seams hold or do I need something that is a solid piece???
I was going to cut it down to 7'x7' and have mother dearest (mother-in-law) sew in handles for lifting.
Your comments are appreciated, what do you other growers use...
Thanks TTYL Ernie Giant Veggies

I used a blue tarp last season 40x40 folded in to quarters,it held over 1100lb and had the room for 10 to 12 lifters!,If the canvas is old i wouldent use it for fear of ripping (dryrot)howarddill.com sells lifting tarps so does pandp seeds. The blue tarps work well also.Best of luck .John

Spend a few bucks and order a real one. You will use it over and over again. If taken care of they will last a long time. I got one of those red ones from P and P seeds. It works great.
