I know many don't like to answer this question but I'll ask it anyway. What is the seed that's currently growing your best pumpkins or squash? I only have 1 plant left ( Welty 744)& my fruit on it tapes out to 345 lbs est. & it's still growing, slowly but growing.

It's hard to say which is my biggest, my 644 Gadberry from 01, or my 1230 Daletas from 01. They are both taping 600+ lbs. My 1167 Handy that was a gorky slow growing flat vine has really taken off and is about 400#. I didn't do anything with it as far as fertilizing, burying, pruning ect. and very little water. I will find out how big they are next Wednesday when they go to the fair, I hate to cut them off early, but our house sold and the new owner would only hold on to them for 6 days (fair). They may get curious and damage them so who knows? The old saying is true, they don't weigh anything untill they hit the scale!

845 Bobier Still growing slowly, should weigh out to estimate if she makes it to the end. 705 Stelts threw a wheel, estimated at 450 now crossed by the 845 Bobier. 1025 Bobier about 450 lbs as well too, still growing. David

The largest on my 825 Shymanski is about 537 with another one on there about 300. Probably should cut the 300 off but weighoff is still a month away and I want to make sure to have something to take.

My Bobier 1025 is at 546 LBS. My Ciliberto 1061.5 is at 531LBS. I've gained 51 and 50 LBS in the last two days on these two. Last week week I was only gaining a average of 10 pounds per day.Starting this week August 26th my Pumpkins started to gain more. I'm hoping for some luck and at least 700LBS or more for both of them

I just lost my largest pumpkin two days ago to a split just below the stem. The pumpkin was growing on the 1262 Emmons and taped in around 780lbs. It was crossed with the 1260 Weir. I've got other large fruit still going on the 960 Rose, 995 Carter, and 547 Armstrong.

Ok guys and gals....when do you all start planting your seeds? I planted in April and mine did not set fruit till the first week in August. All the blossems were male before that. Any suggestions? Last year my largest was 192 pounds but it did take third in a contest. I use horse manure for soil and miracle gro. What else can I do to get them larger?

Where is everyone getting their seeds? I got mine from Veseys and they just offer the Atlantic Giant. I have been saving my own seeds from year to year...but think I need to find a different supply next year.

Around these parts, giant pumpkins are scarce. Only very few growers and they guard their seeds and secrets like they guard their fiddle head patch. The only place I have ever seen seeds for sale is from Vesseys. There is one grower who cleans up every year at the exhibition and no way is he telling anyone any of his secrets. I do not know him personally, so would not ask for any seeds. It is great to know that I can get seeds in here. I can't wait to get them and I am dreaming all ready of next year.Uhoh...just remembered I am from Canada....can the seeds cross the border??

That is great Alun J...I can hardly wait. I sure need some decent seeds. Mine this year seem to be sitting still...waiting for me to hit em with 0 0 60 potash which is supposed to come in on Tuesday nite! They have only set fruit the first of August. Wonder why they are not visably growing. Some in here are growing 3 inches or 10 lbs per day...and mine are sitting still....or they seem to be to my unpractised eye. Even the tape does not measure a difference......
