Wow, 957 already. Makes you wonder whats sitting out there in those heavy hitter's patches.

The article is in the "in the news" section of this website. They screw his name up numerous times refering to him as "Champion" instead of Companion though it is somewhat fitting.

957 lbs now, makes you wonder what is in his patch yet..........LOL As usual, there are some tales of some big ones floating around. It is always a suprise to see which ones pan out and which ones hit the scales.

Kevin told me that he doubted it weighed that much. The fair would not move the pumpkin and re-weigh it on another scale.

Ken: you would have thought that they would have done it right?
certified scale scale and all? still how far could it have been off? looks like a good early performer, i didn't get the chance to talk to Kevin Saturday but those seeds might have potential.

Well....I'm curious as to the OTT measurements. If there are non available, I'm a bit skeptical.

I guess it is official. But Kevin himself doubts the weight. If I had his number I'd give him a call and ask him for the OTT measurements. He has a couple more nice ones gonig too. He brought pictures on Saturday. Hopefully one of his others goes over 1000 and makes the "957" less significant. I agree Glenn, the seeds from the 957 would be interesting to try. I am going to try and get some of Kevin's seeds for our distriubtion this winter.

I finished second to Kevin at the Champlain Valley Fair with a 659.5lb pumpkin. To me it also seemed like the scale was a little off. The weight my pumpkin showed was 150lbs over the OTT measurements. It seems to me that the scale was 100lbs off or so. Even so, Kevin's pumpkin was impressive for August 23!!
