Now I know why my pummkin has been growing so slow. I knew my stump had issues, but it's now just a mushy mess. What should I do. Cut it away and bury whatever I can salvage? Is Ozzie a goner? Anything else I can so to save him and maybe still put on a few pounds?

Thanks again for all your help guys.

Steve

When my stump got mushy I took a knife stuck it inside and scooped out a vine borer, after a few holes in my stump I took out 5 vine borers, YUCK!!!! I cut all the leaves around my stump so it could get some sun and start to dry and heal. I now have a holey stump but now it's all dry and no more vine borers. Yours might not be vine borers, it wouldn't hurt to poke around.....Good luck.........Flora

I think my stump is beyond saving. Somewhere between mash potatoes and oatmeal if you know what I mean. Still don't know if I should burry it, cut it, etc or not. I know this is probably newbie stuff but I could sure use some help.

Thanks

Steve

A stupid question from a new comer...but I have to ask...what is a "stump" ? Is it the main stem and root on the mother plant??? Desert Storm is *blushing from being dumb*

The stump is the beginning of the plant, where it first started growing from, main vines grow out of "the stump" and by the way the only dumb question is the one not ask....Good luck....Flora
