Maybe it is just me but no one in Canada seems to be posting any info on their Pumpkins. (ie. Smitty and Darby)

Checked grower diaries and no measurements, hows a guy suppose to know where he stands if no one post's "circ." and "ott" measurements. What about you guys down east???

I guess we got us a poker game going on if ya want to call it that...

Ok I'll call ya's, lets see what ya have.

You could post day?? with yer measures it is easier to put them on my charts that way.

Ernie: Not trying to be nasty only Canadian growers that will give you that information is the ones you are growing their seed. That's the way it is. Go to them to fill your chart's.

OKKK...

It's probably just because I'm from Western Canada and we have no salt water out here to clog, I mean clear the mind.

I was making reference to other people's pumpkins.

They started posting day 10, 20 measurements of THEIR pumpkins and saying how they are doing but as of late no info except the odd "it is growing slow etc. etc. "No real Data" as I'm keeping charts of various growers pumpkins to see how mine stack up to their's at various stages. (sort of a pre-weigh-off personal contest)(I've got nothing better to do with my time.)

Plus I am trying to work out a system where by one could take their 30 day measurements and estimate the final weight of their pumpkin come weigh-off time.

Hold on a sec. before you go jumping the gun, this is based on a controlled grow. Like if (A)Temp = this and (B) Water = this and so on than your pumpkin will weigh this.

The only factor which cannot be controlled is genetics.

Well their is way to much info to get into it now but if you want an idea check out my last entry in the growers diaries I've compiled a rough draft with estimates for this years pumpkins I'm growing. Plus every detail of my growing this year is controlled by plastic, heaters, fans for various things as well water and fert is watched closely as is temps, that is why I have three thermometers in the patch near the heaters, far end and under the pumpkin house and yes with a controlled grow it does vary by about as much as 5 degress with-in my small 625sq.ft. patch.

Well some might not care but it is fun to keep a pumpkin growing on a very fine line when it is pushed to it's max but not allowed to go beyond it.

AHHHH.... feel the adrenalin.

Ok Darby now were getting some where, what is your measurements of the proposed fruit, like day 20, 25, 30 etc. or what ever ya have circ. and ott.

If ya don't have days like above I can figure that out for those days if ya give me what ya have, try to be honest. Not saying your not but smitty made reference to it. LMAO

No I'm just trying to get the s$#@ stirred up.

It is not that I'm trying to be nosey but the more input/info the better I can fine tune my system. Like I said before go check my entry and ya'll see what I mean.
Smitty gave me the idea with his guess the weight thing.

Wouldn't it be cool to be able to know the weight of yer pumpkin before weigh-off, no not just day 10, 20, 30 rule.
but weight from 100lbs. or if ya grow a 1000 pounds. and not at the present time but about 45 days in advance.

It is more helpfull in my situation to get alot of input from growers in my area. but everyones anywhere helps set the bases.

Randoooo:
Yep got all that info. thnks anyways.

Sap:
whats your pumpkin measurements...

Hey Ernie, I've been busy lately. Things here have been growing slowly because of the cold weather. Don't know for sure where I stand, but I'll measure this afternoon and post tomorrow morning. I think Darby is being pretty secretive, he's got me a bit worried!!!

LMAO,

Cameron.

Secretive????? I got no secrets... Worried eh? Just to let you know, my punkins are looking the pits but they are growing.....slowly. Gort is about 30" circ. My other prospect is Herc on #2 and will probably pass Gort by next week. Its now the size of a small football. circ 22" very oblong in shape with a nice yellow shiny skin. Pray for more warm weather. Iv'e been busy too. picking a bumper crop of raspberries. On another note, one of my sunflowers has 47 flowers and buds on it. I think I'll take it out to Thorhild this coming weekend to the sunflower fest.

Cheers,

Dave

Mine is about the size of a basketball. Pretty disappointing for my third year growing. Oh well, next year it is! V.

Hey, Yukon, you certainly have guts to grow pumpkins that far north. Not to worry tho, there were monks on the Solovetskie Islands just 200 miles from the Arctic circle were growing watermelons!! Read about it in my friend Anna's page http://www.virtualtourist.com/.111571/article/181/8/?s=h&xxg
