I was thinking of going with the 466 Deary 2000 as one of my plants for next year because it carries the genes from the 300 Mongeon (I like the look of the pumpkins that have come from these seeds), which was both the mother and the father of the 466 Deary. My question is whether I need to cross the 466 Deary with another plant or if it would be o.k. to polinate it with its own male flowers? I'm worried that all the inbreeding would do the same to the plant that it would to most animals (i.e. deformities, poor immune system). My understanding of pumpkin genetics is quit limited so if anyone knows the answer or knows a site with the answer your, help would be greatly appreciated :-)

Neo,
Selfing is good to isolate genes, outcrossing is good for vigor. Both are good alternatives with different purposes.
