I was hoping to get some of your opinions on what would be the best seeds to order from this site in hopes of getting a nice round and very orange pumpkin. I'm not concerned with size really as a 300#+ pumpkin would be huge to me. I'm looking for the AG seeds the would produce an "esthetically" pleasing pumpkin (to me that means a nice round shape and an orange color). The seeds I've got so far are the 421 Mongeon 2000, the 474 Michalec 2001, the 551 Michalec 2001 and the 466 Deary 2000. I especially like the 466 Deary as its mom and dad was the 300 Mongeon, which seems to carry good genes for color and shape (at least from the pictures I've seen of its offspring). Thanks in advance for your advice or opinions :-)

Neo, that was exactly my point of view when I made a decision for seeds in late 2001. I got the 726 Eisenhaur and the 466 Deary. The plants made some difficulties and our weather was horrible, but my two (crossed) pumpkins from these look good in shape and color. It´s a good point to look at the pumpkin pics before. Your other choices would be some of my favourites too.

Neo - I don't have much to offer but...
I am growing a 555 Neuville & would recommed this for shape.
I have a nice one going and it has the 'classic' round pumpkin shape. No comment on the color yet as it is still pale yellow. I'm expecting it to turn orange as it matures.
I also have a 551 Michelac going and the fruit is still too new to tell (19 days). I can tell you that it has a 7" stem which looks pretty good.

I'll need to get some seeds too.
My neighbor was kind enough to share the above seeds w/me and get me started in this sport.

Take a look and see if anyone is growing a 610 Caniff perfect shape and that Andrews Guy from Long Island calls himself G...likes green but had a beautiful orange pumpkin in the 540 range...sez it could be green or orange you never know! Seriously would love to know if anyone is growing the Caniff 610 2001 and how they're doing with it! Or the Andrews I believe it's a 539...chuck

Thanks for the advice guys. Your Deary looks great flohberger!!! Nice shape and orange too!!! CEIS, I hope you post some pics of your pumpkins, I would love to see how they turn out. (Especially since there is no pic of the 555 Neuville on the seeds page). Thanks for the advice on the Caniff 610 alexsdad, but looks like those seeds were so popular that there are none left :-(

I would recommend the 466 Deary. Excellent shape and color, which is what i too was going for in my patch. My 466 was starting off beautifully and getting ready to run but a strong wind storm came up and snapped it off at the stump. I'll try that one again next year.

Neo - Just posted a pick of the 555 Neuville.
I'm not too sure exactly when it will show up as there is usually a slight delay.

Grow 'Em BIG!!
