I have a pumpkin on the vine that is about 70lbs that looks about done because I screwed up. The seed came from a 700+ lber grown from last year. If I used the seeds from the 70lber, is that seed still good? Will it be able to grow another 700lb pumpkin or are the seeds shot.

Did you pollinate with pollen from another plant, self pollinate, or open pollinate? (This will all contribute to next year's pumpkin.) As long as your seeds are mature, they would be fine to grow next year. Seed isn't the only factor, building up your soil's organic composition and luck also have a little to do with growing a 700#er.

The seed may still be immature. You can tell after you dry them out. If they are thin and feel hollow, there is "no one home"!
