I’m first time grower and actually my pumpkins stop to grow and are orange; ext. weight of the best is 350lbs. My problem is the correct time for harvesting and a method for storage of pumpkins (our exposition is at the end of September) that prevent weight loss and deterioration. Leaves of the plants are green and actually I don’t have a powdery mildew attack, but the weather is very humid and we have a lot of rain; I imagine that these conditions are favourable to rottenness. Thanks

How do you know the pumpkin is not growing anymore? I would be very shy of cutting it off the vine, 45 days from a weigh off. I would cover it with a tarp and try keeping the area benaeath the pumpkin dry. If the plant is still lush and green, it is not done yet. It may have slowwed.
