Hey. not that anyone cares, but i weighed a 63lber today. it was from the 968 SProule and crossed with itself and the 455 Andrews. it had walls 7-8" thick. It was 61" in circumference, and 124" OTT. It had a great start, measuring at 20" cir. at day 7 and 30.5" at day 10. But then the heat came, it slowed to 1" a day, then it picked back up when the temps got more tolerable and was growing at 2" a day, but right as it was starting to get back on pace, more heat. And it kept on like thant for a month. Well, after the heat subsided what happened? BORERS! I had to remove to stump and first 3' of the main because of the bastards. "DA BEAST" then had to live on the tap roots for a few days as the seeds matured. It then developed a large soft spot so I cut it at day 45. It weighed 63 lbs, more than double what i got last year, so that was a good thing. And it also had a couple hundred seeds that have some pretty good genetics, so it wasn't a total loss. Right now i have a 9 day old fruit on the 455 (sadly a yellow one) which was open pollinated and was 22.5" cir. at day 7. I have a 455 x 611 Hester, 455 x self and 1064 Needham, and 455 x 611 and 1064 Needham on the plant. Maybe I'll have better luck with the 455 fruit. Tom

Tom, I've seen your posts here and on other sites for the last couple years and I agree with other fellow growers that maybe you ought to regroup and look at yourself as a young American who should get some priorities straight. You don't impress me with your knowledge of pumpkins. Look at your best! Try to get outside more often and learn a little STREET smarts!! You'll be a lot better off in my oppinion. As a friend.... Dave, I hope you're right about the 455. the soil was to high in N, so i didn't get any females to open for a while, but in the past 10 or 15 days i've had 6 opn on the plant. I'll have 2 open on the 611 tomarrow. One will be selfed, and another crossesd with the 455. Pappy, I do have some street smarts, maybe they're a little different than when you were a kid back when fire was on the cutting edge. I look at myself as an animal, because that's what we truely are. No matter how much you don't want to believe tha it's the truth. You don't impress me either. Nobody does. Once people realize what they are they'll be a lot better off in my opinion. I hope you get another big one in your second season. Tom

I agree with pappy, Tom you seem to go from site to site offending people. While I disagree with some growers personal beliefs it's ok, we just like to grow pumpkins here. I see you a ssecond or third year grower offering all this sage advice, but yet you can't seem to bust 100 lbs? Many, many folks have given you their "secrets" yet when they disagree with your beliefs you call them foul mouthed names on an open thread! (Mallorn list in July). I and many others take offense to that from a immature little "animal".

you know, gads, it's amazing, when ever i get offended nobody seems to give a shit, but when i offend someone it's the end of the whole damn world! You don't even know a thing about me. Who the hell are you to be bitching at me? Do you honestly think i care if i offended you, gads? I don't, in fact, my main goal is to piss people off as much as possible, because people always seem to do that to me. Oh, and about getting a 100lb pumpkin... the season's not over you dumb ass. And I've got 2 great looking fruit on the 455 Andrews. tom

I, personally would be willing to pay good money to have Tom PERMANENTLY removed from this site. He gives the impression that he knows a lot about AGs, when in reality, he gets most of his "knowledge" from the A.G.G.C. site. By his own admission, his goal is to cause controversy, NOT grow a giant pumpkin. Tom, can't you get a life?, find someplace else to go to "piss people off". Maybe you should try going to public school, because obviously your "home schooling" isn't working. Anyone else agree with me? John, Ken, you guys have the PREMIER site for growing giant pumpkins, can't you help? Tom, one last thing, you're headed for a "scarier place" if I ever meet up with you!

Although it all starts with a P - pumpkins, psycho, punk, poo - this is the PUMPKINS board, Tom. Not only you´re wrong about your life, you´re wrong about yourd board. There must be something belonging to the other P´s waiting for you out there.

Tom, If somehow all this goes back to what you said about your parents in the early spring, take some advice from someone who has been fighting demons for 30 years. Get some help Hoss, it don't make you no less of a person to seek help ( I wish I had figured that out a lot sooner).......Paul

Ok, I know that I'm new to this site, and no one asked my opinion, and I don't know the history, etc. BUT - I can no longer resist adding my two cents. (I have a teenager, and I defend juveniles in criminal court, so I know a bit about kids, even if I don't know much about pumpkin growing yet.) Tom's post was totally non-offensive and totally pumpkin-related, wasn't it? It seems to me that the board set out to PROVOKE a negative response from him. Am I wrong? If he really is 13, and he has already admitted to having problems, as some of the replies here suggest, maybe the group could give him a break, and let him be civil when he is being civil. Even adults will react if their past mistakes are repeatedly thrown in their faces. Patience
