Subject: How can I stop the ozzing ?

I need your help ! Came back from vacation, and to my suprise, I have a pumpkin, that is ozzing. What can I do to stop it. Photo, is on Eldridge Pumpkin. Any help or suggestion, I'll be ever so, grateful , Always, JUDY

Hi Judy!
It's perfectly natural for your pumpkin to "ooze". This acts as a kind of relief valve for the pumpkin, so she doesn't blow up or split. It looks like much of your "oozers" could have been caused by stem stress or "overpositioning" the fruit. Keep some powdered sulfur or Captan on the wounds and they should be O.K. If you get any wide cracks near the stem, I usually take a small cotton ball, roll it around in a wet Captan/sulfur mix, and fill the whole in. Good luck! kilr
