I work in construction, and many times I've seen the delicate border of life/death hanging in the balance. Several years ago, on a job, I met a carpenter, and we started talking about gardening, and pumpkins. His father had spent all of his adult life trying to grow a big pumpkin. The best he had grown was 30-40#. I hooked him up with some AG seeds, and advised him to get Langevin's books on the subject. Just this week I met up with the carpenter again, and he sadly informed me that his Dad had passed away at age 87. (But not before he grew a 200# pumpkin!) I'm sure he was flushed with as much pride and joy with that 200#er, than he would have if it had been a world record. Yes, this hobby can be an obsession, but let's not lose track that it's the "little things" that sometimes count most in this world. May the old guy rest in peace.
Respectfully submitted,
kilr
