My best pumpkin has finally petered out at 102 inches.Its only grown about a half inch the last week.My question is how long can I keep the pumpkin on the vine.I'd like to save it for a Halloween decoration for the month of October but I dont know if I can make it last that long.Should I harvest in a week or so and keep it in a cool place or what???????????

I had three, cut one and now have it in storage in the basement. I washed it with a 1 to 10 solution of water and clorox, then let it dry in the sun and now it is in a black dark dry basement. Should last until the carving date?
